El académico Alejandro Montero Sainz de la Peña, Magíster en Ciencias Sociales, especializado en intervención psicosocial, criminología y justicia restaurativa. Docente de CFT CENCO, participó en el V Congreso Internacional de la Sociedad Chilena de Criminología (SoChiCrim), realizado los días 1, 2 y 3 de octubre de 2025 en la Facultad de Derecho y Escuela de Sociología de la Universidad de Valparaíso.
El encuentro, que tuvo como temática central “Reflexiones sobre la aplicación del castigo”, reunió a investigadores, académicos, profesionales, estudiantes y representantes de la sociedad civil, tanto nacionales como internacionales. La instancia fue organizada por SoChiCrim, el Centro de Investigaciones de Filosofía del Derecho y Derecho Penal (CIFDE), la Escuela de Sociología y la Facultad de Derecho de la Universidad de Valparaíso, marcando un importante hito para la región en el desarrollo de la criminología desde una perspectiva interdisciplinaria.
Durante su exposición, el docente Montero Sainz de la Peña presentó su investigación vinculada a un Análisis de la Pena de Prestación de Servicios en Beneficio a la Comunidad en Chile, junto con lo anterior el docente titular de CFT CENCO destacó la labor formativa que se desarrolla en nuestra institución a través de la docencia y los webinars sobre la Ley RPA que se realizan desde hace dos años.
“Mi exposición fue muy bien recibida y generó bastante interés entre los asistentes —estudiantes de pregrado, profesionales, investigadores y docentes de educación superior de Chile y el extranjero—. Esta instancia permitió fortalecer redes académicas y dar visibilidad al trabajo formativo que desarrollamos en CFT CENCO en torno a la Responsabilidad Penal Adolescente y la Ley RPA”, señaló el docente.
El congreso contó con la participación del Ministro de Seguridad Pública, Luis Cordero, y con más de 100 presentaciones relacionadas con temáticas penitenciarias, policiales y criminológicas. En palabras del presidente de SoChiCrim, Claudio González Guarda, este encuentro reafirmó el compromiso de la academia con el estudio riguroso de los fenómenos criminales y las respuestas estatales, en un contexto donde la criminalidad y las políticas de castigo ocupan un lugar central en la agenda pública.
La próxima versión del congreso se realizará en la Universidad de Talca, reafirmando que el desarrollo del conocimiento criminológico se expande más allá de Santiago, fortaleciendo los vínculos regionales y la colaboración entre universidades.
