La gestión de residuos farmacéuticos en Chile fue el eje central de un reciente webinar organizado por CFT CENCO, a través del Área de Salud y Vinculación con el Medio, en colaboración con Farmacias Cruz Verde y la Fundación Eco Farmacovigilancia. El encuentro, parte del proyecto Buenas Prácticas para el Consumo de Medicamentos, reunió a más de 90 participantes entre estudiantes, titulados(as), docentes e invitados externos.
La actividad contó con la participación de la directora de Vinculación con el Medio, Lorena González, y de la jefa de carrera del Área de Salud, Paola Marchant, además de la exposición de tres especialistas: María Pía Martínez y Patricia Aguilera de Farmacias Cruz Verde, y Nicolás Troncoso de la Fundación Eco Farmacovigilancia.
El webinar comenzó con la presentación del proyecto de titulación de las estudiantes de Técnico en Farmacia, Miriam Peso y Miriam Núñez, quienes, bajo la tutoría de Ana María Pérez, investigaron la gestión segura de desechos farmacéuticos. Su trabajo, titulado “Desecho seguro de medicamentos”, concluyó que el desconocimiento de la población es la principal barrera para un manejo adecuado, resaltando la importancia de la educación como herramienta de cambio.
En esa línea, Farmacias Cruz Verde presentó su iniciativa de recolección de medicamentos vencidos o no utilizados en sus sucursales, gestionados a través de su propia logística. Posteriormente, estos residuos son coprocesados en alianza con la cementera Polpaico, convirtiéndose en combustible alternativo sólido.
El presidente de la Fundación Eco Farmacovigilancia Chile, Nicolás Troncoso, destacó que esta estrategia no solo entrega una solución ambiental, sino que también permite recopilar datos relevantes sobre el consumo de medicamentos, evidenciando problemáticas de salud pública como la falta de adherencia a los tratamientos.
Con más de 90 asistentes y un enfoque práctico en la innovación y la educación, el encuentro reafirmó el compromiso de CFT CENCO con la formación académica, la sustentabilidad y el cuidado de la salud de las comunidades.
